- Nukes have been a source for relative peace for many years (ie: post-World War II). Also, look at the firebombing of Dresden in WWII. Killed more than nukes did, thats for sure.

- Killfile, your assumption is based on a there being a balance of power much like the Cold War where there was mutually assured destruction if one side launched against the other. The world is no longer balanced into two groups. That makes this system inherently good for any country that has it.
